For his science class, Joel had to make something that uses electricity. That meant coming up with an idea of what he wanted to represent (of course the lightbulb on the top had to have a double meaning, didn't it?) and then learning how to put in the wiring. After deciding that he wanted to do an apartment house (Barcelona style), he worked with Pablo to make a parallel circuit of DC current (don't ask me, I just type up what I've been told!) Here's a picture of the two of them hard at work ...
Mom helped on the artistic side - interior and exterior design helped make the project really authentic looking. We cut out silouettes which showed the building's inhabitants when the lightbulbs were switched on and decorated the lobby with nice potted plants and a fancy door. Joel even added graffiti to the alley side of the building and a wall-size advertisement to the other side! All in all, a real estate piece that is worth the investment!
